We don’t have a hierarchical structure; our residents are the core focus of the business, wrapped around with layers of support from different teams, with our Executive Committee – the outer shell – holding everything together.

Phil has been involved with Inspired Villages since its inception. As chief executive of later living at Legal & General Capital (LGC), he helped establish the brand in 2017, and now, having left LGC, supports its development as executive chairman. Phil has over 14 years of experience in the property sector and a keen interest in sustainability.

Jamie Bunce is the CEO of Inspired Villages, a leading developer of purpose-built, later living communities in the UK. With a passion for improving the lives of older people and challenging the perceptions of what later living means, Jamie has a proven track record of delivering high-quality, sustainable and vibrant communities. Under his leadership, Inspired Villages has grown to become a recognised leader in this space, offering innovative solutions for active, healthy and connected living for older people.

Stephen Halliwell

Stephen joined Inspired Villages in 2022, having been CFO at Legal & General Capital (LGC) for five years. Stephen has played an active part in Inspired Villages’ growth story since its inception, holding directorships in its property companies and, latterly, its operating company. During this time, Stephen helped to transform the size of LGC’s direct investment portfolio from around £1bn to £3.5bn.

Neal Dale

Neal has over 30 years experience in property development and is respected within the industry for his expertise in site identification, acquisitions, and onward project development. Neal helped create English Care Village and Inspired Villages, and his extensive experience is key to the company’s growth plans. He oversees the teams responsible for the identification, delivery and onward management of the pipeline of future communities.

James Cobb

James oversees the sales and marketing function for Inspired Villages and was part of the founding team. He has spent nearly 20 years specialising in the retirement villages sector both in the UK and overseas. He has a reputation within the industry for being innovative at developing, marketing and selling retirement villages. James is excellent at understanding our customers.

Lawrence Cramer

Lawrence is an innovative and results-focused HR professional with over 20 years of experience. A Fellow of the Institute of Leadership & Management and Chartered Management, Lawrence believes great service is delivered through engaged teams who embrace the company’s purpose and values. Attracting, developing and retaining talented individuals is essential to an organisation’s success and is a key part of Lawrence’s role.

Angie Harding

As Executive Operations Director, Angie leads our operational function with a focus on strategy, efficiency, sustainable growth and supporting service excellence across our village portfolio.  Angie brings a wealth of experience in the later living sector, in particular from the ExtraCare Charitable Trust where she performed a number of senior executive team roles throughout her 16-year tenure there. Angie oversaw the Trust’s growth ambitions, scaling it from 5 to 21 large-scale retirement villages.  She is also a Non-Executive Director for a large acute and community NHS Trust.

Construction Director

Shaun Whelan

Shaun brings over 30 years of extensive commercial and construction experience to Inspired Villages. During that time, he has worked on a wide variety of residential, leisure and retail developments and held senior positions within contractor, developer and client organisations. Shaun oversees commercial, procurement, technical and delivery of construction activities.

Legal Counsel

Louise Read

Louise brings 16 years of real estate legal experience to Inspired Villages, joining the company from law firm Browne Jacobson. She was also a part-time law lecturer at Nottingham Trent and Nottingham Law School. Louise will support Inspired Villages with a wide spectrum of legal advice as the company seeks to expand its portfolio to support over 8,000 residents.
