The role of retirement villages in improving health and wellbeing
Retirement villages have been in the spotlight in recent years for the reinvented way of living in retirement and how they can improve the health and wellbeing of those in the older years of their life.
We've put together a list of some of the ways they help improve health and wellbeing.
They help battle loneliness
There are countless research and studies surrounding the negative effects loneliness can have on our health and wellbeing. Loneliness can increase a person’s chances of developing anxiety and depression as well as potentially slowing recovery from disease and illnesses. Over the years, we’ve seen an increase in the amount of older people wanting to keep their independence and live in their own homes for as long as possible and this has been made possible by various aids like handles, stairlifts and other adaptions. However, this doesn’t help battle loneliness, but that where a move to a retirement village comes in.
Retirement villages like Inspired Villages, allow residents to keep their independence by living in a home they love but being surrounded by friendly, like-minded individuals that help create a real sense of community. Not only this but they have people on-site 24/7 to assist and provide extra security helping people feel safer. At Inspired Villages, we have lots of different facilities that our residents can use, like gyms, shops, spas and restaurants all within the village. We also host many different group activities that everyone in the village is welcome to get involved in, these are perfect for meeting new people and making new friends.

Reduce stress around safety
We all know the effects stress can have on our health and as we get older the effects can be detrimental especially when we worry about our safety. At our Inspired Retirement Villages, we have a team of friendly staff on hand to provide any help or assistance if you need it. The team ensure that all of the grounds are always manned and kept secure, we have gates that require codes to get in, so you can be rest assured that while living in one of our retirement villages you will feel safe and secure.
Easy access to exercise classes and other activities
At Inspired Villages, our wonderful team host a wide range of different exercise classes to get you moving and improve your fitness but also to have fun while you’re doing it. Even though we can’t attend in person just yet, we have some excellent classes on our Virtual Village Centre which you can do from the comfort of your own home.
If you prefer to get out and into nature then why not walk, bike or even run around the beautiful countryside that surrounds our villages. When we can, we can’t wait to get back out and walking together as many of our villages host weekly walking groups, which are a great way to get some exercise while exploring the local area and meeting or catching up with some friends.
If these don’t quite take your fancy, our villages also host many different activity classes throughout the week that might be more your idea of fun. Whether this is painting or other arts and craft we can’t wait to get everyone back together and having fun when things are safe.
