Hundreds inspired by star-studded Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival

Packed audiences enjoyed an inspired day of discussions and workshops at The Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival on 30 April, which was supported for the second year by Inspired Warwick Retirement Village.

To celebrate Shakespeare’s legacy, BBC’s The Voice coach, Juliet Russell, coached a scratch choir to learn and perform in just three hours a musical version of a Shakespeare’s sonnet.

Mary Portas - Queen of Shops brought her energy and common sense talk to Stratford commenting on the future of town centres that are fast becoming a story of coffee and charity shops.  She also talked about the secrets behind a successful business and Shop Girl, her memoir of a career on the cutting edge of retail.

TV presenter, naturalist and conservationist, Chris Packham entertained guests with extracts and explanations from his memoirs, Fingers in The Sparkle Jar, weaving stories and experiences from childhood to adulthood.

Following their talks, Mary and Chris drew the winners of Inspired’s prize draw for two £50 Waterstones vouchers.
