Social care white paper emphasises importance of integrated retirement communities

The Government’s social care White Paper, People at the Heart of Care, has emphasised the importance of integrated retirement communities like Inspired Villages.

The paper, which was presented in Parliament by Care Minister Gillian Keegan, states:

“We remain committed to working closely with stakeholders from across both private and social sectors to inform future cross-government action that will help stimulate a specialist housing market that delivers effectively for both consumers and providers across the country.

“… We will continue to work across government to explore options to support and incentivise market growth, including ways to give developers greater clarity, investors more confidence and provide consumers with the necessary protections.”

Commenting on this news, Inspired Villages CEO Jamie Bunce said:

“The White Paper marks a welcome acknowledgement from Government as to the importance of integrated retirement communities like Inspired Villages which offer specialist housing for older people.

“Residents in our villages are able to enjoy happy, healthy, independent lives thanks to the well designed homes, on-site facilities and support networks in place, which in turn helps relieve the pressures on our overburdened health and social care system. Given our country’s rapidly ageing demographics, it is so important to be able to grow the sector to give more people the choice of living in an integrated retirement community. This White Paper is a good first step in making that a reality.”
