MP Edward Timpson CBE cuts ribbon on latest milestone at state-of-the-art retirement village
Work to build an additional 39 retirement living apartments at Gifford Lea retirement village, located just outside Chester, is due to be completed in late spring 2022.
Situated in the Cheshire countryside, Gifford Lea currently offers 104 later living apartments and boasts a range of impressive facilities, which include: a wellness spa with relaxation pool, restaurant, bar, hair and beauty salon, gym, craft room and library/cinema room. When complete, the village will offer 162 retirement properties in total.
Construction of phase 3 is almost complete, with contractor Seddon recently completing the first apartment block of the new phase. The remaining apartments in phase 3, including 10 affordable homes available as shared ownership or to rent, are set to complete later this spring. Phase 3 will also see the creation of communal areas and landscaped gardens.
Gifford Lea’s outstanding design was recognised last year with a commendation in the Cheshire West and Chester Civic Awards for Design and Conservation 2021.
Jamie Bunce, CEO of Inspired Villages, comments: “Our philosophy is centred around residents’ holistic wellbeing - looking after their physical, social, financial and mental health, whilst encouraging them to enjoy a healthy, happy and independent life.
“Gifford Lea provides a safe, secure community for residents to form new friendships and try new activities. The development has already been met with high praise and we’re proud to be providing more age-appropriate housing in Cheshire, as well as central facilities that benefit both residents and the local community.
“This next phase marks an important point in our plans for the future of Gifford Lea, providing additional homes for an ever-increasing market, as well as continuing our commitment to environmental sustainability and we look forward to enhancing this exceptional village even further.”
Edward Timpson CBE, Member of Parliament for Eddisbury commented: “It was a pleasure to visit Gifford Lea and the latest phase of their state-of-the-art later living complex.
“Helping people remain independent in their own homes is one of my priorities, and so I’m delighted that Gifford Lea shares that ambition. Every detail from floors to fixtures is carefully considered to support people with living their best lives.
“It’s also encouraging to see how Gifford Lea interacts with Tattenhall’s local community through opening their swimming pool for local schools, working with nearby businesses and integrating with community groups.”
