Quizzing in the dark? It's snow problem for residents of Gifford Lea
An eventful evening was had by all at our monthly quiz and fundraiser when a power cut struck on February 28th. Just as the second round had finished, the event was plunged into total darkness and coupled with a heavy build-up of snow, it looked to be a long evening.
Despite the minus five degree temperatures outside, community spirits remained high in Eric’s bistro and after reassuring residents who were not at the event, Village Manager, Kevin came back to find attendees wanting to continue the quiz by torch and candlelight. Soon after, singing began and chimes of “pack up your troubles” rang out and a fantastic atmosphere blossomed.
The lights came back on at 9.15pm and the quiz ended by 9.30pm with residents back in the warmth of their homes by 10pm. The evening has been the talk of the village and thanks have been offered to everyone who made the night such a success despite the conditions.
Discussing the events, Village Manager, Kevin Antrobus said:
“I am very proud of everyone that works as Gifford Lea and how as a community we work together and make sure we look after each other and encourage the inspired lifestyle.”
