In January  2023 a planning application was submitted for an Integrated Retirement Community comprising 164 units of specialist accommodation for older people and a 60 bed care home. Unfortunately, the application was refused in October 2024 despite considerable need for this type of housing for older people within the area and following extensive engagement with local people and technical consultees.
