Durrants, Retirement Village in West Sussex
Do you love the sunshine, and would love to move to the sunniest county in the country? West Sussex may just be a perfect choice. With a 29-year record for being the sunniest county in the country and miles and miles of beautiful countryside, coastline and National parks. West Sussex makes the perfect home for those that love the outdoors and sunny weather.
Nestled in the beautiful West Sussex countryside is Durrant retirement village, which is home to 173 exquisite two and three-bedroom cottages and spacious two-bedroom apartments.
With the South Downs National Park right on your doorstep, there are plenty of paths to explore. We recommend Devil's Dyke, which is a 100m deep V-shaped dry valley, known for is beautiful views, lovely walking trails and if you’re a bit of an adrenaline junkie sports like para-gliding or hand-gliding. If a walk on the beach is what you crave, then there are many lovely beaches and charming seaside towns only a short drive away. Why not head to the traditional seaside town of Bognor Regis, and enjoy some tasty fish and chip shops before testing your skills in the amusement arcade on the pier? Or why not head to West Wittering beach, in Chichester. Lined with colourful beach huts, this sandy beach is ideal for sunbathing in the summer or enjoying a paddle.
Alongside plenty of outdoor spaces to explore, there are many great things to do in West Sussex. Take a trip to Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre to learn about the industrial heritage of the southeast or to enjoy one of the many wonderful events they host all year round. Or, head to Fishbourne Roman Palace and Gardens to learn about the largest Roman home in Britain - look at the largest collections of mosaics and or take a stroll around the earliest gardens found in the UK. With West Sussex being known for its sparkling wine it would be rude to not take a visit to one of its many wonderful vineyards. We recommend taking a trip to Ambriel’s family-run vineyards where you can take a tour of the vineyards while enjoying spectacular views over the South Downs. Learn how the wines are made, before heading to the tasting barn to sample some of their international award-winning English sparkling wines.
At every twist and turn in West Sussex you’re likely to find some charming market town. We love visiting the traditional, vibrant market town of East Grinstead. Walk down its historic high street full of independent and chain shops, or visit some of its famous historical sites, including Standen and Sackville House. Alongside East Grinstead, we can’t forget Horsham. On the River Arun and home to our retirement village, Durrants. Horsham has the perfect combination of new and old, there is plenty to do from grabbing a bite to eat, to enjoying some shopping or visiting Horsham Park or museum.
